Searching for an interesting activity just after retirement, Vilma Boettcher found duplicate bridge offered the skill excitement and social contact she yearned for. Boettcher then founded the The Duplicate Bridge Circle of Rancho Santa Fe, which kicked off play in January 2003. The circle will offer an instruction program to teach beginners the game as well as offer high level players competition play as the circle grows. Her goal is to encourage an inter-generational enjoyment of the game with parents, grandparents and children joining the group. Please call for more information.

The Country Friends is a non-profit corporation formed in 1954 to support San Diego County charities. The founding group was a group of charitable and public-spirited Rancho Santa Fe women. Beginning with a membership of 167, it has grown to over 2,500 members. The Friends have distributed over four million dollars to local human care agencies. General membership luncheons are held three times per year. An annual outdoor fashion show in the Village is one of the community's highlights. The Country Friends shop is located in the Village on the corner of Avenida de Acacias and El Tordo. It sells fine items of furniture, collectibles, china and silver on consignment.
